In 2012, Clay was asked to serve as the Senior U.S. Government Representative and Special Advisor to the President of the Republic of Kosovo overseeing the planning for the USAID-sponsored 2012 International Women’s Summit in Pristina, Kosovo. The summit featured Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga, former Secretary of State Madeline Albright, U.S. Ambassador for Global Women’s Issues Melanne Verveer, and former Canadian Prime Minister Kim Campbell.
In this role, Clay oversaw all logistics, summit branding, venue selection, coordination between diplomatic security and the Kosovo Police Force and ensured proper protocol was followed for the diverse group of nations represented.
Clay also served as the lead U.S. Government representative in the discussions with the Government of Kosovo on final summit deliverables which led to the creation of the Kosovo Women’s Chamber of Commerce.
For his efforts, Clay received a Presidential Letter of Commendation.
